“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

One of my favorite things about Virginia Tech is its motto, ut prosim. The reason this is one of my favorite things about Virginia Tech is not its meaning (that I may serve), but the fact that so many members of this amazing community genuinely take to heart the value of ut prosim. There are countless stories of heroism, sacrifice, integrity, and compassion shown by Hokies. When asked why, they simply say ut prosim; that I may serve.

Some of my most enjoyable experiences have been while serving others. In fact, one of the reasons I eventually (and very happily) found my niche in Engineering Education was while volunteering for community events, such as Kids' Tech University. I have served as a volunteer in a number of K-12 STEM outreach programs, as well as served in a number of ways for my home department and the Engineering Education community.  For more information of the difference service opportunities with which I have participated, please explore the links below.

I truly appreciate the connections that these opportunities provide for me, and it is so rewarding to know that I can contribute to the communities that have allowed me to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
