HYBRID PARKS

 

Paola Local Council is currently leading a project with local stakeholders to conserve and restore, regenerate parks and gardens in the local council areas. The target areas of the Hybrid Parks Project are; The Gaddafi Gardens (Moorish Garden Project) and The Wied Blandun Garden (The Children's Garden).   

 

After consultations with Voluntary Organisations and Experts a series of Management Plans and Project Description Statements have been formulated. For sections of the Gardens plans which have been submitted to MEPA have been developed. 

 

Duration:      (2011-2014) 

Status:          Consultation Period (March-April-May) 

Actions:        Biodiversity Report Prepared

Documents:  Project Description Statements, Management Plans, Design Briefs.

 

 

NEWSLETTERS 2013-2014

 

A bi-monthly Newsletter is being circulated by the Council to update the citizens of Paola and the Voluntary Organisations of the actions being taken and outcomes of the management plan and implementation plan.

MEDIA 2013-2014

 

The HYBRID PARKS project and the Paola Local Council featured in the media in December 2013 with reports on the Atelier in Malta in April and an International Conference aimed at connecting to the sister project AT FORT. The International Conference was organised in collaboration with European Walled Towns.

PROJECT PLANNING & COORDINATION

 

PAOLA LOCAL COUNCIL ACTION PLAN

 

The Council's main aim is to improve and create new physical and social regeneration projects, as well as spur development through local heritage, tourism and cultural industries. Paola is a hub for new opportunities in transportation links, commerce and recreation. We will strive to revitalise living conditions and to promote regeneration in the area.
