My Vonage Has Saved Me So Much Money

My Vonage has saved me so much money. When long distance Internet phone calling started being a thing shortly after the turn of the millennium, I was one of the first people to jump on board. I remember being so excited about a website I found that let you dial in any number online and route an audio signal through it. I upgraded my computer's sound card, got a headset with a microphone, and called my mother. I remember being so excited to tell her that I was calling her over the Internet, and then crashing down to Earth in having to explain to her what the Internet was.

The audio quality on that call was horrible. Things have certainly changed from the dial-up days, as services like my Vonage one have dramatically improved the quality and clarity of using Vonage. In fact, I think such phone calls sound better than normal landlines do.

I actually keep a minimum monthly payment landline active in my home in case of power outage, storms, and emergencies, but most all of my phone communication is over the Internet now thanks to Vonage. I have relatives in six different countries, and my wife travels internationally, so keeping up with her was not cheap.

When she was just traveling stateside, cell phones were perfect for cutting our long distance bills, but once she was globetrotting, we needed something more affordable to stay in touch. We Skype when we can, but most of the time, we just talk on the phone like we did when we were first dating. Given the time zone differences, we don't always want to see each other visually, and just talking is so much more romantic than setting up a tablet chat or conversation.
