ABOUT THE WRITERS

The acclaimed Alison Lester is one of the Festival's highlight authors and her work is loved and honored by teachers and children alike for her  ability to create stories that celebrate difference and unique aspects of individuals. Alison will lead a workshop for a mixed age group interested in writing children's stories.

With her first poem published when she was 12, AJ Betts is a perfect leader for the creativity and stimulus workshop for the Lower Secondary students.

For older students we have two workshop leaders: The talented Reinhardt Kleist a graphic illustrator can guide students into the creation of their own graphic novel and performer Emily Zoe who will lead a workshop on writing and performing the spoken word.

WHAT ARE  HUMAN RIGHTS ?

Detailing the lives of three of Jakarta's street musicians the film, with humor and compassion, examines the journey of humanity that is often ignored. The courage and dedication to survival that is evident creates an inspiring yet brutal account of lives lived by many of the world's impoverished and illiterate people. The three musicians will attend the premiere and be contributing their stories to the conference.
