Dalston, Rose Castle
7 Miles Grade 3
Leader: Judy Cherrie
Report & Photos by
Alison Smith
Another sunny Wednesday and 14 of us turned up at Dalston for Judy's walk, a riverside walk along the Caldew, a couple of bridges to cross, with a little road walking to a cemetary for lunch and the opportunity to see Rose Castle as we or I had not seen it before, in fact some of us wandered into the kitchen garden! Tony met a couple of old friends at the beginning and the end of the walk. We all baked in the heat and sought out shade whenever we could, and we all made it to the Bridge Inn for afternoon tea (Judy booked in advance!) altohugh some of us opted for a shandy to quench our thirsts. A lovely walk with great company, scenery and on our door step. Marvellous! Thanks to Judy.
