  term 1

My kryptonite is

procrastination

Next term i will do way less last minute stuff... Like this website! Yah its freaking awesome, but staying up till midnight isn't! My eyes are completely glazed over after 8 hours. Asides from procrastination i would really like to keep becoming a more confident photographer. Next term i will get stuff done on time and I'm really excited to take more pictures. More awesome photos to come!

YES i did learn things

This term I learned a ton. In class we have talked a lot particularly about lighting. I recently in film realized how much of a difference lighting really makes, it applied to photo as well. i have payed a lot of attention to lighting, learning proper techniques to suit different times. I would say i can now comfortably set up lights. Another thing i learned about this term is bouquet. Im still experimenting with it but bouquet is preeeee nice to make a boring background bouquetlishious. In photoshop I learned how to easily edit a photo with curves, this is helpful to tone an image properly.

I don't think have ever inspired myself so much by taking a photo before. This bike did not looked locked up properly, which made me think how much that persons day would change if their bike was stolen, maybe it would change a small amount or maybe it would change majorly. This bike inspired me to write a short story which is now being adapted into a short film.

My dog, being smaller than myself, is always looking up at me. I wondered what would it be like to look up at him, it was kinda strange.

I feel like people sometimes pretend to be who they are not. Natrually being at high school there is lots of that going on, it inspired me to make singular photo combining two shots of one person to form a single photo. This was to signify a dual life.

(oddly enough that morning the shirt i intended to wear was dirty and i was late so i randomly grabbed shirt that i thought didn't fit me well... turns out that the shirt "fit" perfectly for the picture. Weird how things work out some times.)

Insecurity can eat away at people, constantly fighting to tell yourself you are better than what you perceive. Being somebody who in the past was very insecure and knowing so many people that are very insecure i can tell you you really are better than you think you are. That is what inspired me to create this photo.

This portrait in particular demonstrates how much i have learned about lighting. The dramatic lighting mixed with Jacks blank expression sets a tranquil kind of mood. I did this because Jack is just a really laid back guy... well half of the time.

Who doesn't like people watching.

All of the busy people don't you know "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around for a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller

The reason i took this photo is because the shadows made a really cool pattern. Next time i would take the photo more straight on though the tunnel to make it seem much longer than it appears and to put emphasis on the shadows.

About me

It was a far above par day when i took this photo. I sat on a cold bench drinking a latte with all my closest friends, looking at the harbour. Running around downtown Victoria had cured my obvious desire of wanderlust being a 15 year old boy. Of course i had to take a picture.
