Bare rock covers almost half of Round Island and the slopes are very steep, averaging 10-30°.

 

The island is incredibly difficult to access as there are no beaches, only one rocky platform to land on.

 

The driest part of the year is from June to December when months pass without rain. The rainfall average is between 800-900mm per year. 

 

Temperatures: 22 to 30°C, occasionally >45°C has been recorded
