Artist Statement

My work references duality, opposing forces, sexuality, biological functions, male/female dichotomy, and disparities in power. Through these subjects I attempt to express the darker realities of the human condition, building work that is disturbing, beautiful and sensual. My process begins with an intuitive method, exploring and experimenting with the inherent qualities of a wide variety of materials.  The collision of materials in the resulting sculptures establishes a dialogue and tension. Through this process I am able to translate fixations into physical form, allowing ideas and associations to develop through the making of the work.  Her work and process strongly resonate with the Arte Povera Movement, Surrealism, and Eccentric Abstraction.
