Artist Statement

My photography resides in a sense of place, of emotion, and of the rich qualities of light, color, and form. This series of straight images focuses on reflections of the figure and conveys how reflections allow unaccountable situations and transitional environments. These fleeting instants catch real persons in the shadowy, thin panes of windows and polished surfaces, simultaneously masking and revealing the essence of what is inside. The wasted yearnings of scattered thoughts permeate this immateriality – realized but withdrawn, personal and universal. Sometimes it is only by moving through what is not real about ourselves that we can find the real.
