Biography
Alayna Perryman is pursuing an undergraduate B.A. in Art degree at Winthrop
University. She was born in Columbia, S.C. where she graduated from W.J. Keenan
High School. Ever since childhood, she has had a passion for the arts and considers
her time at Winthrop University a step to fulfilling her dreams. Currently, she is
working on a project that she intends to name “Awaken,” which deals with fashion
and accessory-making from found objects. She was recently assigned as one of the accessory designers for the on-campus fashion show, "Salute to Couture" that
debuted in early March. Alayna is constantly evolving and taking on new challenges.
She believes that you should never get too comfortable with where you are creatively because it limits growth.
Artist Statement
My work relies on creating pieces that go beyond typical aesthetic considerations
into a realm of the real or tangible. The use of soda tabs, hot glue, and other found objects heightens the uniqueness of my accessories. “Simplicity meets dynamics” is
the overall essence of my work, where simple objects are transformed into dynamic wearable pieces of art.
