What a fantastic day, the best of the year so far and the best for many months. I just hope it’s a sign of things to come for the summer season. Weather wise it was brilliant but on a personal note it was a disaster, almost right from the start I was in big trouble, as far as my hip is concerned it was the worst day I can remember. I apologise to everyone on the walk for holding them up and hope I didn’t spoil the walk for them.  Fifteen of us set off from Windermere Station including Elaine who was joining us for the first time, I hope she enjoyed the experience and we soon see her back again. We reached Orrest Head, which was  very busy, lots of people enjoying the great views. It was a little hazy but no one was complaining about conditions. We set off for School Hill and arrived at the tarn in perfect time for lunch and sat in glorious sunshine. What a difference the sunshine makes when having lunch, it’s so much more enjoyable. We set off along the Dales Way, beautiful countryside. When we arrived at the point where we were faced the decision to

go up Brant Fell or skirt round it, the group had already decided to take the easy route. I must thank them all for that, as it was made entirely  because I was struggling so much to keep up. We arrived back in Windermere with plenty of time for some well earned refreshment. A great day, I hope my condition didn’t spoil it for anyone. Great weather and great company, I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite my condition, I hope everyone else did. I doubt I will be going on any walks for several weeks, I think it’s time I took my doctors advice and have a break for a while. I hope those who do go on the walks will send in some reports and photos.
