The turn out this morning was outstanding and put the numbers  that are sometimes there on a Sunday in the shade. 24 of us set out from Cliburn on what proved to be a delightful ramble enhanced by one of the best day's weather that we have seen recently. A nice aspect of this particular walk was the marvellous views on offer with very little in the way of climbing.

This group of walkers are almost a club within a club who regularly get together on this day of the week and it was a great pleasure for Chris and I to join them  and enjoy their enthusiasm and sociable company for the day.

For lunch we even found some picnic tables with on site entertainment, just by the Centre Parcs golf driving range from where some of our members felt compelled to offer advice to the amateur efforts of those practicing. At this point I lost some of my street cred by attempting to lead us off in the wrong direction after lunch but "she who must be obeyed" luckily had a firm grip on things, and kept us right.

Now as we all know a good walk is often defined by the quality of the tea stop at the end and we almost had a disaster as our plan was to drive to the next village for the café but unfortunately just after leaving Cliburn we passed signs announcing that the road was closed ahead, but by using a variety of different roads we all got there in the end. My apologies to John who thought, quite wrongly, that I knew what I was doing and chose to follow me on a tour of Cumbria.

Our thanks to all who joined us.
