Judith's Final Wainwright

They say the sun shines on the righteous and today it shone on Judith (and her companions) completing her 214th and final Wainwright! A select group of 6 set off from the Sands and navigated their way to free parking in Ambleside from where the walk started! Admiring the wonderful views of the Langdales and Windermere we walked through the woods via Jenkins Crag and found ourselves at the base of 'the pillar' which we decided to climb as an addition to pre-described walk.....having made the summit it was both a photo opportunity and a place for lunch! Onto Troutbeck where we started the ascent of Wansfell proper. A slow but steady climb and we were there and it was time for champers and photos - lovely views all around, the Kentmere round, Langdales, Morecambe Bay and Kirkstone. Steep descent down into Ambleside for coffee and a great walk was completed. Thanks to all for making Judith's final Wainwright so memorable.
