The weather forecast was for a dry day sunny early ,clouding over later, it proved to be reasonably accurate, certainly we had no rain. The clouds looked a bit ominous in the high fells up the valley but not where we were.  Seven club members plus one well behaved dog set out from the curiously named Bleach Cottages car park at the western end of Ennerdale. We were soon climbing up to Anglers crag, but it was well worth the effort, the views were excellent, you are so close to the highest fells in Ennerdale and we appreciated them without the effort required to climb them. When we rejoined the shore path it was a case of concentrating on every step as it is strewn with rocks for more or less its full length. Lunch was taken at the far end of the lake, hunkered down in a hollow to avoid the wind. We caught up with the C party of the Whitehaven rambling club, in fact we saw them several times as they were doing the same walk as us -  minus Anglers crag. On the way back along the north shore, we came across two people swimming! and shortly after another one behind an inflatable boat,we wondered whether he (or she) was practicing for a race or cross channel attempt.

We ended the day in the Shepherds Inn at Ennerdale Bridge outside in the sunshine with  tea and scones with jam and cream. A pleasant relaxing day was had by all, and the dog, Jasper slept contented all the way home.
