B Walk
Latrigg, Glenderaterra Valley
10 Miles Grade 2
Leaders: Mary & John Atkinson

John McKay
Fifteen of us set off from Booth’s car park on this walk led by Mary & John Atkinson. I let everyone march on and carried on at my own pace. I caught up with them again near the top of Latrigg. We admired the views from the top but didn’t hang about as there was quite a chilly wind. We made our way down to the car park and stopped to buy some cakes from two girls raising money for charity. Off we went on the Cumbria Way heading for the end of Glenderaterra Valley and looking forward to our lunch. As we had our lunch it became quite dull and looked as if rain was on the way but it stayed dry and brightened up. I was pleased it stayed dry as I had no waterproofs, in fact the only thing I had in my rucksack was my lunch. I had my car broken into on Friday night and my rucksack with all my usual walking gear was stolen. We reached the Blencathra Centre and waited for some of our female members to catch up. The reason for the delay they told us was that they were putting the world to rights. “ quite right too, as women are responsible for most our problems” said one of our male members, who carried on leading us on the next stage of the walk. We made our way through Brundholme Woods on a path I have never taken before and very nice it was too. We ended up in the café at Keswick Museum before making our way to the coach. A great day, thanks to everyone who came and to Mary and John for leading.
