Annual Coach Ramble

Sunday 18th May 2014

Callander The Trossachs

Thirty one members set off from Rosehill and the Sands and we picked up another three on the M74 at Kirkpatrick Fleming. According to the forecast we were leaving the good weather behind in England and heading up to the rain, very unusual  for Scotland, especially the Trossachs. Ian was our driver for the trip and an excellent driver he was. There were  a few things to be sorted out on the journey, money collected, meal tickets issued and the signing of Neil’s birthday card. I must say I was rather surprised to discover it was only his fiftieth birthday, Gill looks younger than he does. Judith had prepared a quiz to help pass the time which was won by Ken and Ann I believe, I wasn’ t surprised it was won by fellow Scots, Scottish education triumphs again. We stopped off at Hamilton Services for a short break and arrived at Aberfoyle about 11.30. The B party, seventeen  of us, got off the bus at the Rob Roy Hotel and waved goodbye to the rest. We would all meet up again around 5pm at the Waverley Hotel in Callander. The C party was well settled in the bar when we arrived at the Waverley and we had to wait quite a while for the A group but they turned up eventually and we sat down to dinner just before six. The dinner and service was excellent and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Judith presented Neil with his birthday card and also an invitation to a very special weekend with the Naked Rambling Club. Neil seemed to be very keen to accept the invitation. We set off on the journey home, most of us slept all the way and we arrived back in Carlisle about 10pm. A thoroughly enjoyable day and thank you to everyone who came along.
