As a child, I was always inspired by space, explorations of planets and deeply influenced by science-fiction. In the pursuit of becoming a planetary scientist, I discovered polar science as an undergraduate at the Byrd Polar Research Center. There I studied under leading polar scientists and participated in my first  research expedition to West Antarctica. I have had a wealth of research experience spanning various aspects of the cryosphere. In my pursuits, I have found studying the polar regions is as enigmatic as another planet, and a mirror on the soul.
