The diabetes inducing sweetness of these two!!!
Hailing all the way from Thailand before meeting each other in New York and then becoming the official Californians that they are today...don't forget to say hello to Tana's two most favoritest people on earth.

He's fab. Fab. Fabulous! (Never heard that song? Click here and go to the chorus of the song. That's Eddy. Song stuck in your head? You're welcome.) No other words need to describe this man.
Eddy likes long walks on the beach with a 500 page law book in hand. Gentle candle lit dinners with his favorite hipster coffee cup. The nicest guy you'll ever meet and hardworking to boot, everyone fights for Eddy's love. Which is why when Tana met him 8 years ago he knew he had to claim Eddy's friendship as his own. Tana met Eddy through Karen since Karen and Eddy were high school friends, but it wasn't long before Tana took all of Eddy's love for his own. Tana, Eddy, and Karen get into many adventures together and are still making many more! Eddy graciously offered to be the officiant for the wedding and the bride and groom couldn't be happier! Tana also snagged him as a best man despite Karen's protests and jealousy :P

You see that picture right here? That is Kathleen's default face. You know how some people have CBF (Chronic Biatch Face)? Well Kathleen has CHF (No...no...not congestive heart failure silly readers. Chronic Happy Face!). She is 110% cuddly and always ready to go! You'll never find her glass half empty because it's always full! Karen and Kathleen met 6 years ago when they were forced together as roommates. But their friendship is far from forced. These two have a bond so strong that super glue pales in comparison to them. Their relationship can be described as a sisterly one and Karen is so happy to have Kathleen as her maid of honor!

Every Asian parent loves to tell that story of finding their child in the garbage can, but these two can not deny the cute fuzzy little progeny they made because they look so gosh darn alike! These two have been married over 20 years...and still counting! If you are looking to get schooled in basketball or your taste buds are looking for some delicious morsels to eat...look no further. Karen's favorite people on earth will provide you just that!
Both born, raised, and currently still residing in Hong Kong these two sweethearts are flying thousands of miles to come see their daughter get married! Please give them a warm greeting when you see them, I mean how can you not with those faces!?
The Proposal. The Moment of Truth. After Years of planning...
After carefully trying to craft the perfect moment. Running through how he would ask in his head numerous times. Imagining his perfect scenario...Tana finally brings Karen to the perfect most dreamiest location to ask her for her hand in marriage...
As you may or may not have read above, Karen and Tana have been together for a very very long time. So it felt like it was only a matter of time before they finally got married. The pressure was on. Tana knew that Karen was the love of his life and that she would be the girl he would spend the rest of his life with. He could just feel it in his bones. I mean...anyone who could stand him for so many years, still laugh at all of his jokes, tolerate his quirkiness, AND still stick around just HAD to be the one...or a little loopy in the head. Don't even get started on those times he was sick or going through tough times and she helped him through it all...I mean seriously. There was like vomit. EVERYWHERE. On the floor...on the toilet seat...in the kitchen sink...on the carpet...on the dog...
Ok thank you captain tangential...Let's get back to the story...
So yes. Thank you for the redirect. Anyways. Years were spent planning this. Tana wanted it to be PERFECT. I mean who wouldn't? You only get to propose once right? Unless you get a divorce...or someone dies...or the ring gets lost...man this got morbid...
So with the help of his mother and a some money he saved up while working in college he bought a ring and the plan was set into action. On their 7th Anniversary Tana gave Karen a card with a key in it. Little did she know the key was to a heart shaped lock to the treasure chest that contained her engagement ring. If she also read only the letters that were in her favorite color on the card it spelled out "Will you marry me?" though Tana messed up on the word ordering a little bit...more on that later...
Tana had always wanted to get together with Karen on the beach ever since they have met since he is cheesy that way. So he began to scheme and finding the perfect location...THE VIRGIN ISLANDS! That place is like all beach. There was even a beach called Honeymoon Beach. It was perfect. He would do it during sunset and it would be perfect. So the plane tickets were bought. That wasn't all though. He had been practicing Cantonese for a while so that he could ask Karen's parents for her hand in marriage, but unfortunately couldn't learn it to that extent...It did not matter! He asked Karen's honorary brother Toby for translation help! While Karen's parents were visiting for her graduation, Tana pretended that he was going to work at the hospital, but had already secretly taken the day off so that he could sneak back home and film the whole process! The whole thing made Tana so nervous he was shaking, funnily enough Karen's parents reacted with an "Well...yeah of course. We aren't surprised at all." In fact Karen's Mom was more concerned with what she was wearing than the asking part (she was still in her PJs as this was early in the morning!) Tana felt flattered and anticlimactic all at the same time.
After this Tana set up a secret email account and made a video which he sent to Karen's closest friends and family in which they would say 1 thing that they loved best about Karen! He edited all of these videos together ready to surprise her with it the night of the proposal! Unfortunately...his laptop was stolen when they were returning from a flight while visiting one of their closest friends. Luckily Tana was able to retrieve most of the individual videos that Karen's friends and family had made by asking them to resend it, but unfortunately the others videos were lost :(. Tana was saddened, but with the help of some friends he recuperated and focused on the proposal ahead!
Arriving at the Cyril E. King airport in St. Thomas on Dec. 1st the two were encountered with tropical weather and lush green scenery. Their jaws dropped at the beauty of the island as they were given some peach rum by the islanders as a greeting. St. Thomas sure knows how to party! (Also keep in mind this was in December so they just came from Washington DC which was covered in snow and freeeeezing). They arrived at their resort ready for a relaxing day planned by Tana: A relaxing massage followed by a romantic dinner next to the ocean.
The next day was the big day, after a trip to one of the highest points of the island called Paradise Point the couple made their way to the pier to take a boat ride to a small island off the small island of St. Thomas (I know inception right?) called Water Island where Honeymoon Beach was located. To Tana's disappointment a tourism boat had just pulled in and unloaded a ton of tourists so the beach was packed. They spent the day relaxing in the water and enjoying the sun. Tana secretly sneaked off and spoke to a local islander asking where he could perhaps find a more secluded spot to propose. The islander's name was Jeff. And thusly Jeff gave Tana and Karen a ride to the highest point of the island right at sunset. The mood was perfect, the scenery was right. With the engagement ring hidden in a little treasure chest (in honor of being on a Caribbean Island...PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN?!? CMONNN), Tana told Karen to read the card that he had given her 1 year ago (remember that card!? yes yes Tana made sure to bring it), but this time only the letters that were her favorite color.
Now this may all sound romantic, but Tana had unfortunately spelled out "Will Marry You Me." Oh classic Tana...and in all his nerves he kinda rushed Karen a little bit before getting down on one knee underneath the glowing orange of the sunset and asking her to be his fiance. It was one of the happiest moments of their life. They even filmed it! Tana is a little embarrassed because he had a giant speech planned and ended up only saying 2 sentences due to nerves and feeling bashful after his royal mess up on the card, but hey in the end the whole thing worked out romantically anyways :)

A good book. A comfortable cuddle. The jovial laughter of his friends. Eating raw bell peppers like apples. Some things that Sahil loves. Isn't it weird that he eats raw bell peppers like that? Please. Help him.
A fellow nerdian. Sahil and Tana bonded immediately over sharing a good laugh over the concept of a pyrrhic victory. Nerdy? Yes. Sad? Perhaps. But these two have been great friends ever since. Tana met Sahil during his time at medical school and initially tried numerous attempts to woo Sahil to sleep-over at his dorm room to no avail. Fortunately the two still hung out and made a deep connection over sushi (deep enough that the servers thought they were on a gay date. Oh silly servers). These two have been through a ton together and Tana is so happy to have Sahil as his bestman. All we can say about this friendship is...Harold and Kumar. Enough said.

Ever watch a Bruce Lee movie? Well that was Toby's pen name for when he was famous. He has aged really well right!? But seriously. He does karate and every time his thunder thighs kick a new baby is born.
Toby has another nick name. The black hole. He can eat an entire buffet clean AND STILL BE HUNGRY. Yes, seriously. Toby is Karen's cousin (pretty much younger brother really) and Tana met him over 6 years ago. Since then he has fed Toby more than any landfill in America has been filled with garbage. Many a day has Tana pondered where the food that Toby consumes has gone. Over the years Tana has felt like Toby is his own younger brother and couldn't imagine having a wedding without him being there. Needless to say Tana was happy that Toby agreed to be his groomsman. That being said,guests beware on wedding day...get your food early.

Give her a knife and she will cut you...because shes a surgeon silly! What were you thinking???She's skinny. But somehow she consumes all...and still eats dessert. No joke. She's got an extra stomach for that!
Carey is as caring as her name suggests (see what we did there?!). She comes off as a little bristly at first, but give it another 5 minutes and you realize she's just a fluffy little bunny inside. A bunny that loves star wars and desserts. And has thumbs. She definitely needs those thumbs for all the delicious baking that she does. Tana and Carey have been great friends since he started Medical school over 4 years ago. They've been through thick and thin together and unfortunately for Carey, she was never able to shake Tana off. Karen and Carey have a secret relationship going on, but Tana accepts it. Sometimes...Either way Tana was super happy Carey accepted to be a grooms woman :D

This girl is basically a fish. Which is probably why she surfs all day. Cause she couldn't breathe otherwise. Did we mention that she magically changes colors when exposed to the sun? Dark crispy auburn to light copper.
Karen's cousin and honorary sister. Sandy and Karen first met when Sandy was 5 and Karen was 9 during a trip Karen took to the U.S. from Hong Kong. At that time, Karen was not used to Sandy following her around the entire trip, but Karen could feel that Sandy was going to be an important part of her life. Or at least a good lackey, jkjk. But in all seriousness Sandy and Karen are as close as sisters and have been through a lot together over the years. Karen treats Sandy like a little sister and is super happy to have her around for her big moment!

Hungry at 2am and looking for someone to snack with? Only this girl can eat hot buns, ice cream, Korean fried chicken, and dumplings all in the same day.
Impressively enough Blessy, her husband James, Karen, and Tana all ate exactly the menu described above in one night. No guilt was felt that day :P. Only pride. Karen was so happy when Blessy accepted to be a bridesmaid. Karen and Blessy met during Karen's time at NYU. Both being part of the OT program it was destiny that they would meet. Instantly a connection was made when the two met and they have been close and inseparable since. Who else could Karen share an unfathomable love for food as well as home goods nick knacks? No one. That's who. With their countless silly adventures together, Blessy holds a special place in Karen's heart. Not to mention they are coming out with a new rap single with collaborations with James and their friends (including Katie below). Soon to a store near you.

*Rattle rattle rattle* What's that noise? If you love jump scares you need to friend this one. She will hide in your closet for hours to scare you. Seriously. Don't tempt her. She will tape the whole thing too.
Katie and Karen. As if sharing the same first letter of their names wasn't enough these two even shared air together...because they were roommates! This wonderful duo met while Karen was attending NYU for her OT degree and bonded over sharing a room together as well as a tiny wooden bat with which the two would attempt with futility to kill a New York cockroach. They learned two things that day. 1) The New York cockroach was not to be messed with and 2) An amazing friendship was made. Karen and Katie have been best buds ever since and have their fair share of silly moments together (see above). We don't even need to mention how excited Karen was to have Katie as a bridesmaid, but we do need to mention that a jack in the box was involved.

Nickname...Twin #1. Who is twin #2? Look below! Self proclaimed lover of selfies and all things Korean and Hong Kongese. This girl has a passion for fashion! But seriously. She's got a lot of selfies. We dare you to ask her for her phone. We dare you.
Katie is one of Karen's cousins and little sister #1. She is as kind as she is energetic and that is saying a lot. Think the Energizer bunny. Don't know the Energizer bunny? Then you must be born in the 2000s you youngster. Karen knew Katie even before she could make memories! The seven year age difference didn't stop the two from hanging out until Karen left for the US. But wouldn't you know...eventually Katie moved to America too! And so resumed their wonderful relationship, which is great because Katie is now one of Karen's wonderful bridesmaids :) Yay family!

Nickname...Twin #2. But seriously. Look at the picture above. Not a twin at all! You got tricked! But other than looks they are indeed twins as they share the same interests. Yep you guessed it. She also has a lot of selfies. Double dare you to ask her for her phone. Double. Dare.
So what's up with the twin thing? Well Yuki & Katie loved to hang out with each other so much when they were little that they got the nickname of twins (plus their ages are the same)! Years later...they still hang out with each other. Yuki is Karen's cousin and beloved little sister #2. Again Karen knew this one wayyyy before she could make memories, but hey they got close enough that Karen considers her to be her little sister! In twin like fashion Yuki also moved to America at the same time as Katie did. By the way, Yuki also likes nutrition so...ask her about food. Do it!!!

She fits in your pocket, but drives a car larger than your house. Her life is one Japanophilic oxymoron. Isn't she the best?
Tana's sister. By social convention she is his "cousin", but Auraya has been around since Tana could only poop and vomit so she is definitely his sister. Tana can't remember a time when Auraya wasn't around. These two shared much of their child hood together nerding out to things like video games and japanese anime and manga. Their interests still collide to this day together and Tana can always depend on Auraya for a good laugh and a good geek out session about the latest manga that he read. Not to mention Auraya loves to try new junk foods as much as Tana so you'll often find them sneaking away to the nearest restaurant for delicious num nums. Tana is super excited for Auraya to be at his wedding, because a celebration just isn't right without family!!!

She can literally save your life if you have a 10 foot pole sticking out of your stomach, yet somehow she always forgets her cell phone. Meet oxymoron #2.
Tana's older sister. Or is she? Perhaps she too was picked up from a distant trash can that her parents happen to unexpectedly walk by (oh this silly asian folk tale). Though they are 8 years apart, these two are closer than you would think! The amount of mischief they have gotten in together along with Auraya are just too many to count. They have all even geeked out together going to Anime expo a couple years in a row. Tana and Nat prank each other like any other brother and sister would (to Tana's sadness since to this day he still get's pantsed by his sister...sigh...). Though their relationship is silly, Tana couldn't be happier to have his sister with him at his wedding. When he finally becomes a man. A man who SHALL NO LONGER BE PANTSED.
Post Engagement drinks & dinner!
Long Story Short...
Karen and Tana have been together a long time. Tana bought a ring. Put it in a box with a lock that he gave her the key to on their 7th anniversary (1 year before proposal time). Had a bunch of Karen's awesome friends and family send in a video each saying one sweet thing about her. He also filmed himself asking her parents for her hand in marriage when they visited from Hong Kong. Then stupidly lost all of that footage when he left his laptop on an airplane...BUT took her to the Caribbean where he planned a few days worth of romantic activities culminating into the perfect nervous sunset proposal (with the help of some locals) that occurred at Honeymoon Beach on Water Island at St. Thomas. And thusly they were engaged :) Boom. 15 minutes saved. That's like a cup of coffee! (If you get paid $12/hr)

Yup! That's exactly how it went! // Karen & Tana met at the University of California, Irvine dorms called Nubes. It was love at first sight...for Tana ;)
Either way, he did what any chubby nerdy boy who loved playing video games would do. Woo-ed Karen with food! Duhhhhh! Anyone ever play Harvest Moon? No? I'm sorry. I guess you didn't have a childhood. Well in that game all you do is give random foods to the girls to woo them...so that's what he did. Because you know. Video games = real life. It might have come off as slightly creepy at first...given the fact that he was giving Karen random gifts unexplained within such a short time period of meeting Karen...buttttttt eventually with determination and persistent game theory he was able to secure a "date"!
Zot zot zot and beyond
What the heck is a zot zot zot? Well for those of you who have never been to UC Irvine...It's our mascots very very very aggressive and terrifying chant. All of the wild anteaters are doing it....We think...maybe...
Was it mentioned that this "date" was just eating at the dormitory cafeteria? Tana thought it meant an actual date and he even got all spiffied up for it...Karen thought that "date" just meant hanging out...sigh...how innocent...Either way...one thing led to another...and one fateful meeting in the dormitory stairwell interrupted by their Korean friend acting like spider man later (does this sentence sound random and out of place to you? Imagine how they felt when it actually happened to them. That odd memory will forever be embedded in their heads)...Karen ended up asking Tana if he liked her one day to which he responded shyly yes before running away...like a MAN. Proceed to their double date with some of their friends which ended in dissappointment for Tana since their friends got tired and didn't end up going to the beach in the twilight hours like Tana dreamed of.
(Tana didn't drive at that time you see. Karen and Tana were hitching a ride and Tana secretly planned to ask Karen to be his girlfriend on this fateful night!!! Which was RUINED...grumble grumble grumble...). Either way, upon returning to the dorm Tana presented Karen with a cute poem which asked her to be
his girlfriend, and as you know...the rest is history :)
Traveling beyond comfort
Let's fast forward 5 years now...Karen got into NYU and went to New York to finish her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and Tana got into GWU and went to Washington D.C. to finish his Doctor of Medicine Degree
These two love birds have been together for the last 5 years and now it was time to grow without each other for a little bit. They were at first saddened by the fact that they wouldn't be able to see each other all the time anymore, but soon realized that NY and DC was just one short (we are lying...it's not short...its about 6 hours on a good day...but still!) bus ride away and with the advancements in technology video chatting was easily done! During this time each found their wonderful pod of friends (yep that's right. Just like whales. Pods.) whom they still love to talk to till this day (yes that's you! even if we knew you earlier than graduate school :P). After 2 and a half years Karen graduated and with her big sparkly Masters Degree in hand she moved down to Washington D.C. to hang out with Obama. Tana just also happened to be there too.
The Reunion!!!
With a shiny new degree in hand Karen moves back down to D.C. back into the loving arms of her favorite Tana!!!
Karen has moved back down to D.C. and they have been back together ever since!!! Tana still has one more year to go before finishing up his degree, but very very soon he will be done too! Who knows where they'll end up on their next adventure!! But we forgot to mention...during this last year or so since they've reunited...THEY GOT ENGAGED!!!!! Well of course you knew that...or else why would you be here?

Long Story Short
We thought it would be simplest to go with our Chinese roots and go with the red-pocket route (for those of you who aren't familiar it's basically a small red envelope with a monetary value of your choosing!). Hopefully this saves everyone a lot of time and stress. We really appreciate it! But it's not the gift that is important...It's your presence and enjoyment.
We can't celebrate without YOU!!!
