Dreaming with open eyes...

Fangirl tells the wonderful story of two twin sisters who were raised by a very busy dad and no mother. When the time for them to attend College comes, Wren (the outgoing and open minded twin) announces that she doesn’t want to share a room with Cather (the insecure and introvert twin), this makes Cath feel miserable as they had been best friends since the day they were born. Now Cath finds comfort, warmth and familiarity in her Simon Snow world. Cath writes fan fiction about her favorite books which make reference to the Harry Potter books by J.K Rowling. Through her writing, she expresses things she can’t in real life.

Okay, so this book was really, really good. I’m serious, I loved it! To start with, I could easily relate to Cath especially because of the idea of being a Fangirl but also because she had the same concerns as most of us have, I mean stupid but important questions, like when

Book Review:Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

you are late to class, what should you do? Just enter the room and sit down without saying a word? Or is it better to knock on the door? Should you go the the professor’s desk and tell him why you got delayed? Or better just crawl like a baby to your sit and hope no one notices you? I love it when I read about characters I can relate to, it makes me feel that I’m not alone and it reminds me that there are other people out there going through the same things that I am going through.

As regards the writing style, Rainbow Rowell writes just perfectly, she will make you laugh, cry and love, but most importantly, a time will come when you are reading Fangirl that you will have to stop reading and sigh or bite your lip or close your eyes and wrinkle your nose and hold the book close to your chest and just sit there wondering how it is possible that just a couple of words printed on a paper can make you feel in such a wonderful way!

Lovely Quotes...

  • Cath watching his writing partner:

“She liked to sit next to him and watch all that good come out of his hand. Watch the jokes spill out in real time. Watch the words click together.”

  • Cath thinking about kissing:

“…they kissed. Kissed. Cath loved that word. She used it sparingly in her fic, just because it felt so powerful. It felt like kissing to say it.”

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell made all the big sighs and lip biting happen for me as a reader. I believe this is an amazing book and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a funny, reassuring and heart-warming book.
