Dreaming with open eyes...

OMG this book!!! IT IS JUST AMAZING! I couldn’t stop turning the pages!

The story is set in the world of Baalboden, which is a city surrounded by a big wall that protects its citizens from the Cursed One, a deadly beast. This city is ruled by the Commander, a scary but brilliant villain. His motives are selfish and mean. I absolutely hated him! He presents an evil threat to Rachel and Logan, the main characters.

Logan and Rachel are really likeable and have different personalities; while Rachel is brave, passionate and fierce, Logan is logical and cautious. At the beginning of the story, Logan and Rachel barely speak to each other, but eventually, they start to develop feelings for each other. However, none of them actually shares this information with each other until the very end; this builds up such romantic tension between them!!

Book review: Defiance by CJ Redwine

The book is told in two perspectives alternating between Rachel and Logan. This is really necessary since they aren't together for the entire duration of the book, so by doing this we can see what both are experiencing when they're apart.

The switches between them are perfectly placed, so that when you finish a chapter, you want to go back to that character to see what will happen next.

What kept me turning the pages non-stop were the interesting twists of events, the intrigue and the romantic tension between characters because so many things happen all at once!

When the book ends, pretty much everything is wrapped up, however, there are a few loose threads that make me want to read the second book in this trilogy, Deception desesperately!!

This is such a great book! I really loved it! I would highly recommend Defiance by CJ Redwine to anyone who enjoys reading fantasy and dystopia!
