Dreaming with open eyes...

Hey there book lovers!! Today we'll be discussing The 5th Wave Movie! I watched the movie last week and I enjoyed some parts, but there were these other parts that just got me a little pissed off...

12 THINGS WRONG WITH: The 5th Wave Movie

1. THE PART WHEN CASSIE AND BEN TALK IN THAT PARTY

In the book Cassie and Ben Parish NEVER talked, they just interacted once and it had to do with their siblings, THE BABIES. NOT A PHONE CASE.

2. CASSIE’S RIFFLE

When Cassie’s dad gives her a weapon, he gives her a RIFFLE, NOT A LITTLE GUN. This was important because it was Cassie’s bestie, and it didn’t happen in the movie!

3. WHEN SAMMY GETS ON THE BUS

If you read the book, you know what I’m talking about. First of all, for Cassie it was not that easy to leave her father behind. AND CASSIE WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO GET ON THE BUS. And in the movie she was. Also, in the book, Sammy gave Bear to Cassie so that she would never feel alone, and in the movie Sammy forgets Bear, Cassie gets off the bus to go get it and when she comes back the bus is gone. IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT

4. CASSIE WAS NOT AS FUNNY AND HILARIOUS AS IN THE BOOK

In the book, Cassie was funny but in the movie she was not funny, at all. Also, CASSIE DIDN’T TALK TO BEAR.

5. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EVAN AND CASSIE:

To start off, the part when Evan washes Cassie’s hair was cut out, and this part was important because it showed that Evan really cared about Cassie and it was soo cute! And the part when Evan gets into Cassie’s mind to show that he was good was also cut out, THIS PART WAS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS BECAUSE CASSIE AND EVAN CONNECTED IN A UNIQUE WAY, CASSIE SAID THAT IT FELT LIKE THEY WERE UNITED, THERE WAS SPOT WHERE CASSIE ENDED AND EVAN BEGAN, THERE WAS NO SEPARATION BETWEEN THEM, and the movie people decided to cut it out. Well done movie people!

6. EVAN

Evan was a whole lot creepier and supernatural (in my opinion), like there is a part when a lightning strikes and Evan jumps super high as if he was a vampire. HE IS NOT A VAMPIRE. And that scene when Cassie wakes up in the forest and sees Evan bathing in the lake, I think this scene was made just to make girls like Evan, I think that instead of doing this they could have included the parts I mentioned back in number 5.

7. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BEN AND NUGGET

The relationship between Ben and Nugget is not fully developed in the movie, we do not see how much Ben cares for Nugget and how much he helps him.

8. THE CHARACTERS WEREN’T TAKEN THROUGH WONDERLAND

Enough said.

9. RINGER'S CHARACTER WAS NOT AS BADASS

In the book I really liked Ringer because she was badass and awesome and I loved her soo much! But in the movie she was not that badass, and I didn’t like that.

10. WHEN BEN AND RINGER DISCOVER THE TRUTH

In the book there was all this thinking done before discovering the truth, whereas in the movie, Ringer suddenly says “It’s a lie, we can’t trust the ‘people’at camp heaven” and they all believe her. IT DIDN’T HAPPEN THAT WAY.

11. BEN KNEW WHO CASSIE WAS

What I found super funny in the book was that part when Cassie meets Ben Parish and she is like “Hey, we went to school together! Remember the babies?” and Ben is like “Umm sorry but I don’t know you.” I think that part was hilarious, and in the movie it’s completely the other way around: Ben sees Cassie and says “Hi we went to school together” NO BEN, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW CASSIE.

12. THE BEN AND CASSIE KISS AT THE END

I definitely ship Evan and Cassie together, but I think that the half-kiss between Ben and Cassie at the end was important. AND BEN DOESN’T HALF-KISS CASSIE IN THE MOVIE!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE MOVIE PEOPLE?!

While I did not like the things I mentioned above, I did enjoy the movie and I would recommend it to anyone who likes post-apocalyptic stories.
