Shanice Bloodbloom -Lovely, gentle, wounds...

I paint these girls with child-like faces and baby hands, eyes too large for their heads and their heads too large for their thin pale bodies. They usually depict a vague idea of emotion but are mostly trapped in the headlights or in a daze. They look too young to be adults but too adult to be children and they dress in slightly seductive, promiscuous yet elegant apparel. Sometimes they have delicate wounds such as a nose bleed or small slits on their tender wrists. I think they produce more questions than answers. They reveal so much to me, things that I couldn't tell you in words, and yet still remain mysterious even to myself. If they could talk, I'm not sure they would. If they would I'm sure they'd whisper or speak very softly and with hesitation because everything they'd say would be a secret or a lie.
