Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released by The Beatles in 1967, selling more than 2.5 million copies within three months of its release, making it initially more successful than the previous Beatles albums.  The cover features the Beatles in costume as the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with a group of life-sized cardboard cut-outs of famous people (List of appearances).
