Meddle Overview
Meddle was released in 1971 by Pink Floyd. Meddle was a group effort with lyrics from each member. The cover is a close-up picture of an ear underwater, which was designed by Hipgnosis. The picture represents an underwater ear, collecting waves of sound, which are represented by the ripples. The album name is a play on words; a medal and also to interfere. - Wikipedia
In his book Saucerful of Secrets The Pink Floyd Odyssey, Nicholas Shaffner quoted Melody Maker's Michael Watts as saying the album was "a soundtrack to a nonexistent movie." -page 166, par 2
The tracks are as follows:
1. One of These Days (I'm Going To Cut You Into Little Pieces)
2. A Pillow of Winds
3. Fearless
4. San Tropez
5. Seamus
6. Echoes
2001: A Pink Floyd Odyssey
Meddle (1971) with 2001: A Space Odyssey - Discovered by Unknown
It's actually just the last song, "Echoes", that will be played. Start the song right as "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" appears.
Evidence:
-Originally the lyrics for the song had more of a space theme ( http://www.pink-floyd.org/artint/103.htm ), "Planets meeting face to face.."
Meddling 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Meddle (1971) with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) - Discovered by me around 2005ish
Start as "20,000 Leagues.." appears. Continue album until end of movie.
Evidence:
-The album cover "represents an ear, underwater, collecting waves of sound".
-Speaking of Meddle: "..By putting the piano through the Leslie, this wonder note of Rick's had an element of the sound of Asdic, the submarine hunter, about it." -Inside Out by Nick Mason p153 middle of par 2
-Speaking of Meddle: "..we submerged a huge inflatable octopus in the lake in front of the stage. As a climax to the show the octopus was inflated and came rearing out from the lake. The moment would have been improved if a number of fans had not stripped off and taken to the water; in scenes reminiscent of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.." (Italics theirs) -Inside Out by Nick Mason p158, par 2
-"Melody Maker's Michael Watts, however, shrugged off the record (Meddle) as "a soundtrack to a non-existent movie," -Saucerful of Secrets by Nicholas Schaffner p166, par 2
Fantasian Medley
Meddle (1971) with Fantasia (1940)Discovered by 2%David
Start with track 1 right as the first scene of the movie appears... the curtains opening up to reveal the stage. Keep album on repeat until end of movie.
Evidence:
-Meddle means:
1. (obsolete) To mix (something) with some other substance; to commingle, combine, blend. -The movie's description is; "A collection of animated interpretations of great works of Western classical music."
3. To interfere in or with; to concern oneself with unduly. -Mickey Mouse meddles in his masters stuff.
